Job Description
ON.energy is setting the standard for large load interconnection.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end bid development for assigned regional AI MV UPS opportunities: technical exhibits, scope of supply, exclusions and clarifications, commercial terms and AI-generated content modules.
Analyze RFP requirements, build compliance matrices, and map out project timelines.
Prepare AI MV UPS system proposals covering MV architecture and topology, redundancy schemes (N+1, 2N, block/distributed redundant), ride-through duration, IT and mechanical load coverage, battery system sizing, MV transformer, PCS and switchgear integration, and reliability and availability metrics.
Articulate AI-specific value in each bid, including mitigation of GPU load oscillations, power quality, grid-code and interconnection compliance with regional utility and ISO requirements (e.g., ERCOT large-load ride-through), and speed-to-power benefits versus conventional LV UPS architectures.
Structure commercial offers across capital sale, LTSA, extended warranty, availability and performance guarantees, and service-based models (AI UPS as a Service).
Flag tax, trade and supply-chain items that affect the offer, including ITC eligibility, FEOC and domestic-content considerations, tariffs and country of origin, and resolve them with Finance and Legal.
Keep Salesforce Sales Cloud opportunity, quote and approval records current, with accurate stages, MW, pricing, documents and close dates for regional pipeline and forecast reporting.
Use NetSuite for item and BOM costing and quote-to-order handoff, ensuring traceability from proposal to booked order.
Prepare Go/No-Go and bid review packages, commercial risk assessments and approval submissions covering margin thresholds, liquidated damages, payment milestones, warranty exposure and limitation of liability.
Use Claude and other AI tools to accelerate RFP analysis, compliance matrices, first-draft narratives and contract/specification summaries, with human review and confidentiality controls on every output.
Apply and help improve standard proposal templates, pricing formats, T&C summaries, performance guarantees, engineering assumptions and technical documentation stored in Office 365 / SharePoint.
Produce customer-ready packages: executive summaries, one-page commercial summaries, technical appendices, project timelines, risk matrices and presentation decks.
Support customer clarification meetings, bid revisions and best-and-final offers, and hand off awarded bids to Project Delivery with full proposal-to-contract traceability.
Share regional lessons learned and contribute to proposal best practices, templates and AI workflows across the team.
Requirements
5–10 years of experience creating and managing complex technical-commercial proposals for the data center industry (hyperscale, colocation, enterprise or AI/HPC), including multi-million-dollar critical power or electrical infrastructure bids.
Demonstrated ownership of multiple concurrent proposals from RFP receipt through award, working directly with regional sales teams and customers.
Strong understanding of data center critical power: MV and LV distribution, UPS topologies (double-conversion, rotary/DRUPS, modular), lithium-ion battery and BESS systems, MV transformers, switchgear, PCS, generators, SCADA/EMS/BMS, and redundancy and availability design (N+1, 2N, Uptime Tier concepts).
Solid commercial knowledge of supply and EPC contracts: liquidated damages, warranties, performance and availability guarantees, payment milestones, Incoterms and limitation of liability.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, system layouts, specifications, SLAs and scopes of work.
Familiarity with bid governance frameworks, margin thresholds, risk controls and approval matrices.
Exceptional writing and content development skills for both technical and executive audiences.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous bids under tight deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Business or a related field; engineering degree preferred.
Bid or sales engineering experience with a critical power OEM or integrator (UPS, switchgear, BESS, power generation) selling into data centers.
Knowledge of the assigned region’s data center market, key customers, utilities and competitive landscape.
Exposure to MV UPS, battery energy storage, microgrids or grid-interactive data center solutions.
Familiarity with utility and ISO interconnection requirements for large loads and with ITC, FEOC, domestic-content and tariff considerations.
APMP certification or equivalent proposal-management training.
Bilingual English/Spanish and experience with international bids.
