Job Description

The Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing solar construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance on-site, while coordinating with project stakeholders to deliver projects efficiently and effectively across the Midwest region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities on solar projects in the Midwest region.
  • Engage with EPC contractors and project stakeholders as the primary on-site contact.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and subcontractor management best practices.
  • Manage project schedule, budget, resources, and risk through effective communication.
  • Review construction requirements during bid proposals and provide scope, budget, and schedule details.
  • Coordinate communication between construction staff, procurement, engineering, and administrative teams.
  • Analyze and improve construction methods for efficiency and value.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with health, safety, environment, and quality plans.
  • Prepare and communicate project status reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Obtain necessary permits for project execution.
  • Support and contribute to future project delivery strategies.
  • Promote continuous improvement within internal teams and follow company processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering, construction, and/or technical project experience.
  • Must carry an active driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel frequently, approximately 30 to 50 percent in the field, depending on time of year.
  • Excellent PC computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in solar energy or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to project stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities often across functional and operational lines.
  • Ability to contribute to an amicable working environment with other associates and employees.
  • Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
  • Willingness to contribute to a culture that thrives on building trust and holding one another accountable.
