Job Description
The Senior Backend Engineer will lead the development of scalable, reliable backend services to support innovative energy products in Japan, driving the green energy transition through technical leadership, system design, and collaboration across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead backend development for scalable, reliable services powering energy products in Japan.
- Make architectural decisions and guide system design for backend platforms.
- Mentor engineers and lead initiatives across different domains.
- Build and maintain backend services that support energy transition products such as heat pumps, solar, EVs, and smart tariffs.
- Align backend development with global tech strategy and solve complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- Experience in leading backend development on scalable, reliable services that power energy-related products.
- Ability to make architectural decisions, guide system design, and mentor engineers as the team scales.
- Proficiency in building scalable, highly resilient platforms from the ground up.
- Strong technical leadership skills with the authority to make tech decisions and lead initiatives across domains.
- Experience solving deep technical challenges related to backend systems.
- Ability to work side by side with cross-functional teams including customer service, sales, marketing, operations, finance, and data.
- Experience in leading backend development on new products in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Python programming language.
- Experience in designing and developing backend services for energy or similar industries is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a global engineering community and communicate via tools such as Google Meets or Slack.
