Job Description

A Digital Marketing Specialist responsible for managing and optimizing paid media campaigns, with a focus on digital advertising tailored to Japanese consumers, to support the growth and customer experience of Octopus Energy in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize all paid media campaigns with a focus on digital advertising targeting Japanese consumers.
  • Develop, execute, and adjust media plans based on market trends, public sentiment, and consumer needs.
  • Analyze website and ad performance metrics to improve campaign effectiveness and user engagement.
  • Implement acquisition and retention funnels to drive customer growth and loyalty.
  • Monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to inform advertising strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align marketing efforts with company goals and customer experience enhancement.

Requirements

  • Experience in taking charge of all paid media, with a focus on digital advertising, including agile advertising planning, media plan development, execution, and optimisation.
  • Ability to quickly grasp circumstances, trends, public sentiment, and daily life needs of Japanese consumers to inform advertising strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience in website and ad performance analysis, campaign optimisation, and acquisition and retention funnels.
  • Understanding of human behavior, brand perception, and why consumers choose certain brands, even when it seems illogical.
  • Proficiency in analyzing campaign metrics and deriving actionable insights to improve advertising effectiveness.
  • Experience in digital marketing, specifically in managing paid media campaigns and digital advertising channels.
  • Ability to contribute to the growth and expansion of the company through effective digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong motivation and a proactive attitude to take responsibility for digital advertising initiatives.
  • Experience in working in an in-house or agile environment where priorities are dynamically adjusted based on effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently with accountability without reliance on traditional process-heavy approaches.
  • Experience in delivering digital experiences that are sustainable and genuinely meet customer needs, rather than purely commercial or FMCG-focused campaigns.
