Job Description
The role involves building and scaling backend systems and onboard modules for Nuro's routing services, focusing on optimizing routes, algorithms, and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient autonomous vehicle navigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and scale backend systems and onboard modules for routing services
- Design microservices and optimize routing algorithms
- Understand and manage road network graphs and traffic data
- Develop monitoring and analytics infrastructure
- Optimize deployment pipelines for routing systems
- Collaborate with product, strategy, and operations teams to design user experiences and define product roadmap
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of experience building and scaling realtime server-side applications.
- Experience working on large-scale complex algorithm problems, and know how to balance correctness and performance.
- Proficiency in C programming.
- Knowledge of how to choose the right storage technology for the job.
- Experience with a wide range of databases, including relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, non-relational databases such as BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, etc., and data warehouses like BigQuery and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with RPC frameworks such as gRPC and Thrift.
- Experience with pubsub systems such as Kafka, Cloud PubSub, and Celery.
- Experience in training and inferencing machine learning models.
- Extensive experience working with cloud providers such as GCP and AWS.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes, or willingness to learn.
- Strong technical skills with a love for learning new technologies and a quick learner.
- Passion for making lives easier for developers through tooling that helps troubleshoot, debug, and profile applications.
- Ability to make appropriate tradeoffs between quick-and-dirty solutions and scalable approaches.
- Ability to work closely with product and design teams to build the best product for users.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with PMs, UXRs, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
