Job Description
This role involves developing and maintaining autonomous driving technology, including data management, simulation, and technical infrastructure, to support Nuro's self-driving vehicle systems and AI platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the Data Platform for AI Driver data, labels, and metrics, including data ingestion, annotation, and introspection.
- Build, test, and improve simulation frameworks and sensor models for autonomous driving in virtual environments.
- Develop and maintain core technical infrastructure services such as compute platforms, storage management, cloud infrastructure, and engineering productivity tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, or Go
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: large-scale distributed systems, data storage and processing systems, modern microservice architecture, machine learning, multithreading, x86 architecture and software performance tuning and optimization, robotics software frameworks, different compute modalities such as CPU, GPU, FPGA
- Ability to work on data annotation across various domains including 2D perception, 3D perception, mapping, behavior trajectory, and language text
- Experience with data ingestion and mining employing methods such as heuristics and embedding search
- Experience supporting autonomy evaluation infrastructure by providing detailed introspection
- Experience building or working with simulators for autonomous driving technology, including sensor simulation, scenario generation, and integrating real-world data with synthetic techniques
- Experience with developing and maintaining core simulation frameworks and ensuring realistic and reliable simulation at scale
- Experience owning or working with fundamental services for engineering organizations, including compute platforms for data processing and simulation, storage management of hundreds of PB of data, cloud infrastructure provisioning and maintenance, and engineering productivity tools such as build and CI/CD systems
