Job Description
The role involves building and scaling backend systems and onboard modules for Nuro's routing services, focusing on optimizing routes, improving ETA accuracy, and supporting autonomous vehicle operations through advanced algorithms and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and scale backend systems and onboard modules for the Routing team.
- Design microservices and optimize routing algorithms.
- Understand and work with road network graphs to improve routing and ETA accuracy.
- Develop monitoring and analytics infrastructure for routing systems.
- Optimize deployment pipelines for routing applications.
- Collaborate with product, strategy, and operations teams to design user experiences and define product strategy.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience building and scaling realtime server-side applications.
- Experience working on large-scale complex algorithm problems, and know how to balance correctness and performance.
- Proficiency in C programming.
- Experience with choosing the appropriate storage technology for the job, including familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, non-relational databases like BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, and data warehouses such as BigQuery and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of RPC frameworks such as gRPC and Thrift.
- Experience with pubsub systems including Kafka, Cloud PubSub, and Celery.
- Experience in training and inferencing machine learning models.
- Extensive experience working with cloud providers such as GCP and AWS.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes, or willingness to learn.
- Strong technical skills with a love for learning new technologies and a quick learning ability.
- Ability to develop tooling that helps engineers troubleshoot, debug, and profile applications.
- Ability to make appropriate tradeoffs between quick-and-dirty solutions and scalable approaches.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
