Job Description
The role involves developing and maintaining a performance benchmarking platform for autonomous vehicle software, focusing on infrastructure, data pipelines, and system reliability to ensure efficient and scalable validation of self-driving systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and evolve the benchmarking and performance simulation platform, including hardware, OS, networking, and orchestration layers.
- Build and manage end-to-end data pipelines to collect, process, and visualize performance metrics from bench-top systems.
- Design and implement automation for monitoring, alerting, and self-healing to ensure platform reliability and scalability.
- Guide hardware and system configuration to accurately reproduce production robot compute behavior.
- Plan and manage hardware allocation and utilization strategies across multiple hardware generations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate performance analysis needs into robust infrastructure solutions.
- Set technical vision and roadmap for the platform, making architectural decisions and representing needs to leadership.
Requirements
- 3 years of industry software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and working proficiency in C.
- Experience building data pipelines, ingestion, transformation, storage, and visualization.
- Familiarity with SQL and analytical workflows.
- Deep comfort with Linux systems including configuring kernels, debugging boot issues, writing systemd units, or managing bare-metal infrastructure.
- Understanding of networking, storage, and compute at a level beyond just it 'works'.
- Experience setting technical vision and roadmap for a project or platform, driving alignment across multiple stakeholders, independently identifying cross-functional partners needed to unblock and deliver, and briefing senior engineering leadership on trade-offs and recommendations.
- Experience with AI-native development, treating AI as a core part of engineering workflow, including coding across the development lifecycle and understanding when AI output demands extra scrutiny versus when it accelerates development.
- Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, balancing long-term architecture with short-term delivery.
