Job Description
Nuro is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to develop and optimize control software for autonomous vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance across various driving conditions. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance autonomous driving technology and improve vehicle control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust, reliable, and optimized production-level control software following safety standards ISO 26262
- Create coupling mechanisms between planner and controller for expanded operational design domain (ODD) across various driving conditions
- Investigate machine learning techniques to improve vehicle dynamics, feedback policies, and vehicle performance
- Develop vehicle motion monitors to ensure trajectory tracking and actuator control meet safety and performance requirements
- Collaborate with hardware, software, autonomy, testing, and system teams to integrate control solutions
Requirements
- Deep knowledge in vehicle dynamics, controls theories, control strategy development and testing
- Significant hands-on controls development for L2 or higher level Automated Driving systems
- MS in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or closely related fields with focus on Controls
- 3 years of experience in development of L2 or higher level automated driving controls software and integration with vehicle platform s
- Implementation of classical and modern controls methods and or Machine Learning for Controls
- Strong embedded C preferred or C programming skills
- Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams
- Effective oral and written communication skills
