Job Description
The role involves designing and optimizing network connectivity systems for remotely operated autonomous vehicles, focusing on bonding multiple cellular networks, building performance simulations, and developing custom congestion control algorithms to ensure reliable, low-latency communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer a network bonding framework to aggregate bandwidth across multiple cellular providers for seamless connectivity.
- Build simulations to stress test the network stack against edge cases like network congestion and rural dead zones.
- Develop and implement custom congestion control algorithms optimized for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming.
- Collaborate with hardware and embedded teams to optimize the network stack on vehicle gateways.
Requirements
- 5 years of industry experience or a PhD with a focus on Networking Distributed Systems and 3 years of industry experience
- Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack, socket programming, and how data moves from the physical layer to the application
- Ability to engineer a network bonding framework to aggregate bandwidth across multiple cellular providers (Verizon, AT T, T-Mobile) to ensure zero-drop connectivity
- Experience building sophisticated ns-3-like simulations to stress test network stacks against edge cases like tunnel entries, rural dead zones, and network congestion
- Develop and implement custom congestion control algorithms specifically tuned for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming
- Partner with Hardware and Embedded teams to optimize the network stack directly on vehicle gateways
- Proficiency in writing performant, thread-safe code in C and Go, with an understanding of real-time systems
- Understanding of TCP and UDP protocols, including why they fail in high-mobility environments, and how to implement FEC or ARQ to compensate

Compensation/salary range between $193,930 and $291,150 depending on experience and qualifications
