Job Description
The role involves designing and optimizing network connectivity systems for remote vehicle operation, focusing on bonding multiple cellular networks, developing simulation models, and enhancing real-time data streaming performance to ensure reliable autonomous vehicle control.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer a network bonding framework to aggregate bandwidth across multiple cellular providers for reliable connectivity.
- Build simulations to stress test network stack against edge cases like rural dead zones and network congestion.
- Develop and implement custom congestion control algorithms for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming.
- Collaborate with hardware and embedded teams to optimize the network stack on vehicle gateways.
Requirements
- 5 years of industry experience in Networking or a PhD with a focus on Networking Distributed Systems and 3 years of industry experience
- Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack, socket programming, and how data moves from the physical layer to the application
- Proficiency in writing performant, thread-safe code in C and Go, with an understanding of real-time systems
- Native understanding of protocols such as TCP and UDP, including why they fail in high-mobility environments and how to implement Forward Error Correction (FEC) or Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) to compensate
- Experience engineering a network bonding framework to aggregate bandwidth across multiple cellular providers (Verizon, AT T, T-Mobile) to ensure zero-drop connectivity
- Ability to build sophisticated ns-3-like simulations to stress test network stacks against edge cases like tunnel entries, rural dead zones, and network congestion
- Develop and implement custom congestion control algorithms specifically tuned for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming
