Job Description
The role involves designing and developing sensor and compute systems for autonomous vehicles, including embedded software, device drivers, and hardware integration, to support Nuro's self-driving robot platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Architect and deploy sensor and software for autonomous systems with high reliability and performance
- Monitor system metrics, automate testing, and collaborate with vendors to ensure reliable software
- Debug complex embedded and real-time systems to identify and resolve failure modes
- Lead cross-functional projects related to sensors and compute hardware for autonomous vehicles
- Mentor software engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities
Requirements
- Six (6) years of experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Four (4) years of experience with a Ph.D. degree
- Proven ability to deep dive into complex embedded and real-time systems
- Strong proficiency in C, with emphasis on concurrency system software development expertise, from the device driver to the application level
- Deep understanding of Linux kernel-level algorithmic correctness and performance optimization
- Experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems
- Technical excellence in software development and debugging complex systems, root-cause failure modes, and deploying effective solutions
- Ability to design and develop sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Ability to architect and/or deploy Nuro sensors and autonomous software with high reliability and performance on embedded SOCs
- Experience delivering reliable software through metrics monitoring, automated testing, and vendor collaboration
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, PMs, and other stakeholders
