Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer specializing in collision avoidance testing for autonomous vehicles, responsible for designing and evaluating safety scenarios, analyzing test results, and supporting the safety case to ensure reliable and safe autonomous driving performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate autonomous vehicle performance in collision avoidance scenarios through testing and simulation.
- Identify gaps in testing coverage and design scenarios to address these gaps using real-world logs and synthetic simulations.
- Develop validation strategies for Automated Emergency Braking functions and structured testing approaches.
- Analyze test results, recommend product improvements, and report on residual risks to support safety cases.
- Support the creation and use of models to quantify collision risk in various scenarios.
- Author reports on testing and residual risks, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or related field.
- Strong algorithmic problem solving skills and coding experience preferably in Python or C to implement scalable solutions.
- Experience with designing simulation-based evaluation suites and scenarios for testing autonomous vehicles using well-defined metrics to score good behavior.
- Experience developing collision-type metrics, data analytics, evaluation tooling, or CICD test pipelines to quantify robot performance in test environments.
- Highly collaborative in nature with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively, both verbal and written.
- Self-starter and fast learner with a passion for picking up new skills and approaching unstructured problems from first principles while prioritizing and managing workload to meet critical project deadlines.
- At least 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area, of which 3 years should be in robotics software.
- Working knowledge of and ability to apply systems engineering concepts of requirements, verification, and validation.
