Job Description
The role involves leading the ML Platform team at Nuro, focusing on developing machine learning infrastructure and optimizing distributed training systems. The position requires strong technical expertise in machine learning and proven leadership skills to mentor a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the ML Platform team
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of approximately 15-20 engineers
- Drive the development of distributed training systems on GPU/TPU
- Drive the development of model optimization pipelines and tools
- Represent ML Platform within the broader engineering organization and to executive leadership
Requirements
- Deep technical expertise in ML infrastructure, with a strong background and hands-on experience in building and scaling distributed training systems and/or model optimization techniques including quantization, distillation, and compiler optimizations.
- Proven leadership experience managing and growing high-performing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire technical talent.
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning and systems engineering practices, with the ability to translate cutting-edge research into production-grade infrastructure.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a bias towards action and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the capacity to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels.
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
