Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operator at Nuro is responsible for safely operating self-driving vehicles, collecting data, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering teams to advance autonomous vehicle technology while ensuring safety and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate autonomous test vehicles safely for up to 8 hours daily
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to improve technologies and workflows
- Utilize proprietary software to collect data, troubleshoot real-world situations, and provide feedback to engineers
- Interact with the public to educate them about autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors
Requirements
- Have a current valid California driver’s license and have been in possession of a US license for at least 3 years
- Have a clean driving record
- Pass a criminal background check
- Be responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Be able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
- Have advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be self-driven and have experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment, or possess the DNA to thrive in one
- Be collaborative and team-oriented
- Be able to reliably work the PM shift from 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends as needed
- Be physically capable of performing duties including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
- Be able to sit for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle, alone or with a co-driver
- Have the ability to perform side, up, down movements of the head, neck, back, and shoulders necessary to operate a vehicle safely
- Be able to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly
- Have the ability to hold and grasp with hands and use foot pedals frequently when driving

Compensation/salary: $24 per hour with potential for yearly bonuses based on individual and company performance
Work schedule: PM shift from 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends
