Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operator at Nuro is responsible for safely operating self-driving vehicles, collecting data, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering teams to advance autonomous vehicle technology, while ensuring safety and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate autonomous test vehicles safely for up to 8 hours daily
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to improve technology and workflows
- Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot real-world situations
- Provide detailed feedback to engineering teams based on vehicle operation
- Interact with the public to educate them about autonomous vehicle technologies
Requirements
- Have a current valid Texas driver's license and have been in possession of a US license for 3 years
- Have a clean driving record
- Pass a criminal background check
- Be responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Be able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
- Have advanced communication skills in both written and verbal forms
- Be self-driven and have experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment, or the DNA to thrive in one
- Be collaborative and team-oriented
- Able to reliably work either the AM shift (5:45am-2:15pm Central Time) or PM shift (2:15pm-10:45pm Central Time)
- Work 40 hours a week, including weekends
- Be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
- Sit for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle alone or with a co-driver
- Have the ability to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly
- Hold and grasp with hands and frequently use foot pedals to operate the vehicle
Benefits & Perks
Compensation hourly rate: $21 per hour
Potential yearly bonus based on individual and company performance
Work schedule: 40 hours a week, including weekends, with AM or PM shifts
Work environment: Sitting up to 8 hours per day in enclosed vehicles, with physical activities such as bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds
