Job Description
The Senior Accountant at NineDot Energy is responsible for managing core accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting internal controls and compliance, and contributing to process improvements within a fast-growing clean energy company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and document processes and policies to strengthen internal controls
- Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of financial information, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Execute testing of financial controls for SOX compliance
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other general ledger accounts
- Ensure timely payment of monthly dues, rent leases, and property taxes
- Support financial statement preparation and consolidation, including intercompany reconciliation
- Assist external audits by providing accurate and timely information
- Lead projects and process improvements within the accounting group
- Research and resolve outstanding reconciling items and related issues
- Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities in reporting, reconciliation, and analysis
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting or related fields.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, Workday, Netsuite, or similar ERP systems is preferred.
- Experience with financial consolidation for multiple entities is a plus.
- Experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred.
- Ability to assist with the development and documentation of processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ability to ensure the timely and accurate recording and maintenance of financial information, including journal entries, cash clearing accounts, recharge accounts, GL account reconciliations, and other suspense and clearing accounts.
- Ability to execute testing around financial controls to provide documentation and support for SOX compliance in respective financial areas.
- Ability to manage all accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other assigned general ledger accounts.
- Ability to ensure the timely and accurate recording and payment of monthly due diligences, monthly rent lease, and quarterly property taxes on owned properties.
- Ability to support financial statement preparation including consolidation and intercompany reconciliation.
- Ability to support external audits by providing all required information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to lead projects and process improvements within the accounting group, including system upgrades, implementation testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently research, track, and resolve outstanding reconciling items and related issues, and communicate with internal resources or processors to escalate and resolve differences.
- Ability to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities in reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.
