Job Description
The Control Room Manager at Nexamp oversees the real-time operations of renewable energy assets, leading a team to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance of solar and energy storage systems while optimizing system performance and supporting company growth in the clean energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee 24/7 real-time operations of renewable energy assets using SCADA and energy management systems
- Manage and mentor operations team, including scheduling, training, and performance development
- Serve as primary escalation point for operational issues and emergency situations
- Ensure compliance with policies, NERC standards, and ISO market rules
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to optimize asset performance, system reliability, and market participation
- Monitor operational data, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to improve performance
- Develop and refine operational workflows, documentation, and system usage for safe and scalable operations
- Maintain team qualifications and certifications related to high-voltage systems and market operations
- Communicate with internal stakeholders, utilities, and market operators regarding system status and outages
Requirements
- 5 years of relevant experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, or grid operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role within a 24/7 rotating shift environment.
- High School diploma or GED equivalence.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems certification or prior experience operating high-voltage facilities.
- Demonstrated experience with power generation technologies, preferably within the renewable energy sector, including solar PV and battery storage experience.
- Proficient with operational and analytical software tools, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and database platforms such as Microsoft Access or similar.
- Experience with plant or fleet-level SCADA systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, interpret, and act on real-time data.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret numerical data, identify trends, and support internal and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Detail-oriented and disciplined, with a methodical approach to work execution and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, real-time operations environment.
- Willingness to work occasional 12-hour shifts and provide flexible coverage during emergencies or critical operational periods.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization.
- Experience in making process improvements, showcasing initiative, and solving problems through root cause analysis and creative solutions.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of Nexamp’s operations and apply that knowledge to inform business decisions.
- Previous experience engaging and inspiring teams to excel while focusing on team growth and well-being.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation range: $130,000 - $155,000
