Job Description
The Category Manager at Nexamp is responsible for developing and executing strategic procurement and supplier management for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) category, collaborating across departments to optimize supply chain performance, mitigate risks, and support the company's clean energy mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies for BESS equipment aligned with business goals
- Identify sourcing opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and optimize supplier performance
- Generate reports on category performance, market insights, and procurement forecasts
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, develop contingency plans
- Conduct market research on supplier capabilities, market trends, and risks
- Identify and introduce new suppliers, rationalize the supply base, and manage onboarding processes
- Negotiate supplier agreements and establish compliance monitoring
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, manufacturing, logistics, and continuity of supply
- Manage supplier performance through scorecards and quarterly reviews
- Develop standard practices and processes for category management teams
Requirements
- University degree (Supply Chain or Engineering degrees are a plus).
- 3 years of experience in the solar industry with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience familiarity.
- 5 years of experience in supplier management, category management, technical program management, or consulting.
- Proven ability to develop procurement and supply chain strategies, coupled with strong presentation skills to effectively communicate recommendations to senior management.
- Experience working closely with engineers and other technical teams, with a deep understanding of technical requirements and product development cycles.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and experienced in managing projects that align with strategic procurement goals.
- Experience in developing and managing KPIs and performance metrics working with complicated data sets.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
