Job Description
The Senior Project Finance Valuation Analyst at New Leaf Energy is responsible for developing financial models and analyzing market data to evaluate the profitability and viability of renewable energy projects, supporting all stages of project development and maximizing project valuations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze financial models to evaluate project valuations, profitability, and market viability.
- Research and interpret energy market data, including wholesale prices, retail rates, and renewable energy credits, to inform valuation scenarios.
- Coordinate with policy teams to incorporate community solar program developments into financial models.
- Support strategic project development decisions using insights from project cash flows and energy markets.
- Drive the development and implementation of tools and techniques to improve project development efficiency.
- Engage with customers to educate on revenue and cost structures, review valuation assumptions, and negotiate purchase prices.
- Collaborate with design engineering on project optimization, dispatch modeling, and EPC cost estimation.
- Train and mentor employees on financial modeling, energy market fundamentals, and incentive structures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
- 5 to 8 years experience with the United States energy industry, ideally working in the renewable energy industry
- Project finance modeling and power markets analysis experience
- Mastery of Microsoft Excel required
- VBA experience preferred
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced business environment
- Knowledge of energy or renewable energy development and finance
- Accurate and detail-oriented
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Ability to analyze financial models and understand the impact of various key drivers
- Technology-oriented
- Disciplined in adoption and following of standard work as the basis for continuous improvement
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills
