Job Description
The M&A Associate at New Leaf Energy will be involved in project development and financing of renewable energy projects, managing tasks from project origination to closing, including risk analysis, contract negotiation, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cross-functional teams to complete project development tasks related to real estate, permitting, and interconnection.
- Maintain project management tools such as checklists and critical path schedules to ensure timely transaction closures.
- Lead the creation and organization of detailed data rooms and support project marketing, award, and closing processes.
- Track inter-departmental deliverables and forecast project milestone dates.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external clients, including project buyers.
- Oversee the progress of permitting, interconnection, and related contracts for projects.
- Assist in preparing and organizing legal transaction documents such as LOIs and MIPAs.
- Draft and negotiate critical project contracts including site leases, PPAs, easements, and property tax agreements.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 4 years experience working in the renewable energy industry with a focus on project development and financing
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams to complete critical project development tasks through an in-depth understanding of real estate, project permitting, and interconnection processes
- Experience maintaining checklists, critical path schedules, and other project management tools required to keep the process organized and allow transactions to close quickly
- Experience leading the creation and organization of detailed data rooms and supporting all project marketing, award, and closing processes
- Ability to track inter-departmental deliverables and forecast project milestone dates
- Effective communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients such as project buyers
- Experience managing the progress of permitting, interconnection, and all associated contracts for projects
- Experience assisting in the preparation and organization of legal transaction documents including Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Membership Interest Purchase Agreements (MIPAs)
- Experience assisting in the drafting and negotiation of critical project contracts, including site leases, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), easements, and property tax agreements
