The Senior Analyst, FP&A at New Leaf Energy is responsible for leading financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and performance reporting to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency within a renewable energy development company.
Key Responsibilities
Optimize and manage the FP&A system, ensuring accurate reporting and automation
Lead the annual budgeting, monthly/quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes
Build and maintain complex financial models for forecasting and scenario analysis
Analyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets to identify trends and risks
Collaborate with departments to analyze and challenge financial forecasts
Prepare financial review materials for executive leadership and the Board
Own near-term cash flow forecasting and manage related financial instruments
Identify and manage letters of credit, performance bonds, and other financial instruments
Requirements
Five (5) years of experience in related roles such as financial planning, forecasting, modeling, or performance reporting.
Bachelor's Degree in a technical, accounting, or finance discipline.
Advanced proficiency managing and using an FP&A tool to support a complex business, including demonstrable understanding of data structures, report generation, scenario management, and integration with Excel.
Strong-to-expert level financial modeling skills, including building and maintaining complex 3-statement financial models driven by operating business inputs, and performing ad-hoc modeling of other business areas.
General understanding of GAAP accounting principles and the ability to work with colleagues to understand key accounting implications for the business and apply those in modeling and analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial data and strategic recommendations clearly, concisely, and confidently to senior leadership.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, partner effectively with business colleagues, and own the message as well as the analysis.
Ability to operate independently and be self-motivated in a fast-paced private equity environment.
Highly intellectually curious with a drive to continuously explore and learn about the business and how individual work relates to broader organizational goals.
Solutions-oriented with a practical approach to developing initial solutions quickly and evolving them through continuous improvement.
Experience with data systems, specifically with the configuration and use of FP&A systems, working closely with system administrators and stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and effective reports, forecasts, and analyses.
Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation and reporting capabilities.
Experience owning near-term cash forecasting and collaborating with colleagues in Project Development, Project Finance Sales, and Accounting to maintain accurate and credible projections.
Experience in managing the process for identifying and managing financial instruments such as letters of credit and performance bonds through their lifecycle.
