The Interconnection Project Manager DG at New Leaf Energy is responsible for managing utility interconnection processes for renewable energy projects, coordinating stakeholder communications, and ensuring smooth project development from application to completion, with a focus on regional strategy and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate interconnection efforts between Engineering, Project Finance, Accounting, and Operations.
Lead utility communications, meetings, and conflict resolution.
Manage the full interconnection lifecycle, including application submittals, reviews, and approvals.
Interpret utility requirements, feedback, and tariff guidelines; communicate risks to the development team.
Monitor utility performance, identify risks, escalate issues, and negotiate outcomes.
Handle project-level disputes and negotiate with utilities.
Create and maintain project management tools, trackers, and reports for interconnection processes.
Own and oversee interconnection application packages and related documentation.
Forecast cash flow, manage payments, and ensure compliance with utility policies.
Evaluate and manage third-party consultants involved in the interconnection process.
Coordinate signatures, approvals, payments, and impact studies related to interconnection agreements.
Requirements
Four years of relevant experience with preference given to those with energy and direct electric utility experience.
Bachelor's degree required.
Strong project management, reporting, and technical skills, preferably in Salesforce and Smartsheet.
Experience with Microsoft Project.
Ability to interpret utility feedback and understand implications on development, engineering, and construction efforts.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the markets.
Ability to effectively coordinate interconnection-related efforts between Engineering, Project Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams.
Experience leading utility interactions and meetings, including conflict resolutions.
Experience owning the full interconnection lifecycle, including interpreting and organizing utility requirements and feedback, and communicating risks to cross-functional teams.
Proactive monitoring of utility performance to identify risks to the critical path, with the ability to autonomously escalate issues and negotiate positive outcomes.
Serve as the interconnection process subject matter expert on utility behavior and tariff guidelines for the development team, and act as an internal consultant for strategic decision-making.
Handle project-level disputes and successfully negotiate positive outcomes with utilities.
Own the interconnection application submittal packages, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.
Manage cash flow forecasting, payment amounts, target due dates, and required payment forms, requiring a strong understanding of financial accounting, cost-benefit analysis, and utility payment policies.
Evaluate, onboard, and manage third-party consultants.
Coordinate signatures, approvals, payments for applications, impact studies, and interconnection agreements.
