Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer II supports the development of utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects by managing design, permitting, and entitlement processes, coordinating with consultants and stakeholders, and ensuring project quality and compliance to advance renewable energy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and oversee renewable energy projects, including site reviews, zoning, and entitlement processes
- Coordinate with consultants, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure project compliance and progress
- Develop and review project documentation, drawings, and bid sets for permitting and bidding processes
- Manage sub-consultants, schedule, quality control, and standards adherence throughout project development
- Support project permitting, environmental review, and entitlement activities
- Mentor and coach early-career engineers involved in project development
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; multi-state licensure preferred.
- 6 to 12 years of demonstrated experience in site development, entitlement, and environmental permitting at municipal, state, and federal levels.
- Experience with transmission-connected solar PV or energy storage projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience in cost estimation, reviewing engineering services contracts, managing subconsultants, and overseeing project schedules.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD or equivalent design tools preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey design concepts and lead meetings with clients, engineers, regulatory officials, and consultants.
- Proven ability to self-manage multiple projects while remaining motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Demonstrated passion for renewable energy.
