Job Description

The Civil Engineer I at New Leaf Energy supports the development of renewable energy projects by assisting with site due diligence, civil design, permitting, and project documentation for solar, wind, or energy storage facilities, working closely with senior engineers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing, designing, and permitting renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, or energy storage.
  • Conduct site due diligence and research permitting requirements and bylaws.
  • Create civil site plans, stormwater management reports, and permit applications.
  • Analyze and prepare reports related to stormwater management using HYDROCAD.
  • Develop standard details, notes, and specifications for civil design drawings.
  • Support the review of design drawings and civil consultation memos.
  • Engage with local authorities and participate in meetings with planning and zoning boards, and federal agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program or equivalent.
  • EIT certificate or on-track to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering, with recent graduates with internship or COOP experience encouraged to apply.
  • Some experience and enjoyment working with AutoCAD Civil 3D (desired but not required).
  • College coursework in hydrological modeling (HYDROCAD experience preferred).
  • Experience with or knowledge of field surveying concepts (desired).
  • High energy, resourceful, and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in ad-hoc teams and take direction.
  • Ability to occasionally visit project sites for pre-development evaluations.
  • Ability to occasionally drive to evening meetings of project-approving authorities.
  • Solid written, oral communication, and analytical skills.
  • Passion for renewable sources of energy.

On-target annual cash bonus of approximately 10% of base salary
