Job Description
A wire bonding technician responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automatic wire bonders to assemble Focal Plane Arrays, ensuring quality and process optimization in a clean room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support FPA wire bonding duties using automatic wire bonders
- Set up wire bond machines, configure parameters, verify processes, and perform maintenance
- Create and optimize auto wire bond programs and loop profiles
- Perform process characterization and optimization to meet specifications
- Dress wires using probe and oiler tools
- Record and document results for repeatability and production readiness
- Follow work instructions and travelers for hardware tasks
- Document and report damage from wire bonding and support root cause analysis
- Ensure work meets Quality Assurance requirements
- Update and maintain wire bonding schedules
- Observe ESD, safety, and clean room practices
Requirements
- Related technical experience in automatic wire bonding, preferably with experience using Palomar and Hesse automatic wire bond machines.
- Ability to work the entire shift within a clean room laboratory while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including lab coveralls, chemical apron, hood, face mask, hairnets, safety gloves, and goggles.
- High School Diploma is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions, pay attention to detail, and accurately enter data.
- Must be able to work within a clean room environment wearing personal protective equipment.
- Walking and/or standing may be required for 70-80% of the day.
- Must possess motor skills appropriate to the task.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull 25-30 pounds consistently.
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain US Government security clearance.
