Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer at HRL Laboratories designs, develops, and tests radar system software for high-frequency applications, collaborating with scientists and engineers to create innovative, mission-ready sensor solutions across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, and test radar systems operating from HF to 200 GHz.
- Develop software and architectures for radar systems in collaboration with scientists and engineers.
- Solve customer problems related to radar systems and algorithms.
- Publish technical papers, brief customers, and participate in proposal activities.
- Contribute to invention disclosures and support marketing of HRL expertise.
Requirements
- Ph.D. with experience in Radar Systems Engineering
- Strong expertise with radar systems with an emphasis on software development and radar algorithms
- At least 5 years of experience with software development including Embedded Systems, Full Software Development Lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and Prototype Development
- Experience using MATLAB for analyzing data collected by radar systems
- Experience with System Design and Architecture and Algorithm Development
- Experience with system engineering best practices
- Experience coding with C, C++, Python, Bash, and Perl
- Firm understanding of source control systems such as GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, and SVN
- Ability to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers
- Ability to perform detailed analyses of radar systems and components
- Ability to prepare written and oral presentations
- Willingness to work well in a team and independently
- Willingness to travel and work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $140,700 - $175,900, determined by role, level, and location
Work schedule includes full-time employment with potential travel requirements
