Job Description
A physicist with expertise in atomic physics and related fields, responsible for designing, building, testing, and analyzing advanced quantum optics and atomic devices, while contributing to research, development, and technical presentations in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, calculate, and construct AMO experiments and prototypes
- Collect and analyze experimental data
- Present research results to team members
- Write invention disclosures and research proposals
- Publish papers and present at conferences
- Brief internal and external customers on research findings
Requirements
- Research experience in one or more of the following areas: atomic physics, atomic clocks, chip-scale atomic photonic devices, quantum optics, nonlinear optics, cavity optomechanics, semiconductor device physics, device design, and RF engineering.
- Experience developing innovative solutions based upon the application of relevant research results from a wide variety of sources.
- Experience with multi-physics simulation both device and optical system, computer-aided design, layout, and testing.
- A proven track record of problem solving in more than one of the following areas: free space optics, integrated photonics, fiber optics, microwave systems engineering, custom electronics design, vacuum equipment and hardware, cryogenic equipment.
- A record of publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Active participation in R&D team activities.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
