Job Description
The internship involves performing research and development on next-generation quantum photonic electronic devices, including designing, modeling, setting up, and testing free-space and fiber optic experiments, as well as analyzing and discussing scientific data in a collaborative laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform research and development on next-generation quantum photonic electronic devices under supervision.
- Design, model, set up, and test free-space and fiber optic experiments.
- Perform measurements, collect, analyze, and present experimental data.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an educational program following the intern assignment to be considered.
- Coursework or equivalent experience in optics, lasers, quantum mechanics, or similar fields.
- Some prior experience working with any of free-space fiber optics, electronics, or computer-controlled experiments obtained through coursework, independent study, or other internships.
- Must be able to work safely in an optical testing lab.
- Must be U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, engineering workstations, and complex electronic equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
- Strong desire to learn and be trained in scientific laboratory techniques and experimental procedures.

Compensation range of $43 - $48 per hour, determined by educational year
A one-time stipend to help with moving costs for students relocating to Malibu, CA
Work schedule of 8 to 12 weeks with start dates on May 25, June 1, and June 15
