Job Description
This position involves designing, testing, and analyzing quantum optics and photonics experiments related to quantum communications systems, with responsibilities including research, prototype development, data analysis, and scientific publication.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and perform tests on optics, optoelectronics, and photonics experiments in quantum communication systems
- Design, simulate, calculate, and construct electro-optical experiments and prototypes
- Collect and analyze experimental data and present results to team members
Requirements
- Research experience in one or more of the following areas: quantum optics, quantum networking, nonlinear optics, semiconductor device physics, and systems engineering.
- Experience developing innovative solutions based upon the application of relevant research results from a wide variety of sources.
- Experience with multi-physics simulation of both device and optical systems, computer-aided design, and layout (preferred but not mandatory).
- Proven track record of problem solving in more than one of the following areas: free space optics, fiber optics, integrated photonics, microwave systems engineering, custom electronics design, vacuum equipment, and hardware.
- Publication record in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active participation in R&D team activities.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
