Job Description
The Quantum Device Measurement Scientist conducts cryogenic experiments on spin qubit devices, develops measurement techniques, analyzes data, and collaborates with engineering teams to improve device performance and yield through experimental and theoretical methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct low-noise, cryogenic experiments on sensitive spin qubit devices
- Develop new measurement techniques and methods
- Analyze experimental results and apply relevant theory and modeling
- Write script-level code to support experimental development and data analysis
- Report findings through oral presentations and written reports
- Collaborate with measurement-system-engineering team to identify and implement subsystem improvements
Requirements
- Conduct low-noise, cryogenic experiments on sensitive spin qubit devices.
- Develop new measurement techniques and methods for quantum device characterization.
- Analyze experimental results using relevant theory and modeling to define approaches for further device improvements in performance and yield.
- Write script-level code to support experimental development and data analysis.
- Report findings to other team members through oral presentations and written reports.
- Collaborate with measurement-system-engineering team and utilize applicable engineering analysis tools to identify and implement improvements to qubit-control, interconnect, and environmental subsystems.
- Possess detailed knowledge of modern experimental physics techniques, including troubleshooting analog electronics and noise analysis.
- Have familiarity with scientific programming for data analysis and hardware interfacing; specific programming language is not critical.
- Have experience in scientific communication through technical presentations and journal publications.
- Hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on quantum devices or technologies.
- Candidates with additional experience may be considered for more advanced positions.
- Must be able to climb ladders to use elevated test equipment.
- Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment.
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance as required.
