Job Description
The EBeam Lithography Intern will operate advanced electron beam and photolithography equipment, assist in process engineering and programming, and collaborate on developing precise fabrication processes in a cleanroom environment, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge lithography technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate electron beam lithography and photolithography tools, including Raith 5000/5200 systems and Heidelberg VPG laserwriter.
- Program and operate lithography systems using Linux, Bash, and Python scripting.
- Process pattern data, apply Proximity Error Corrections, and fracture data into machine-specific formats.
- Perform hands-on wafer processing tasks such as coating, loading, and inspecting wafers with microscopes.
- Collaborate with technical staff to design and perform experiments, analyze lithography results, and optimize processes.
- Monitor and manage lithography jobs remotely and locally, ensuring accurate execution and troubleshooting.
- Develop customized job files and processes for critical fabrication tasks with high precision.
- Communicate work progress, results, and technical options to research staff, management, and customers.
Requirements
- Experience and skills in computer programming Bash scripting is strongly desired.
- Experience with Python is a plus.
- Experience with photolithography tools including coat develop tracks, sub-micron steppers, direct write lithography, image reverse, and inspection tools including SEM and or CD-SEM is also a plus.
- Demonstrate problem solving ability under critical deadlines, and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
- Candidates should possess a proven track record of developing novel and successful solutions to complex technical issues.
- Must be enrolled in an educational program in a Bachelors program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field and have lab cleanroom experience, and be enrolled in this program following the intern assignment.
- Must be able to work within a cleanroom environment wearing personal protective equipment including lab coveralls, chemical apron, hood, facemask, hairnets, safety gloves and goggles.
- Walking and or standing may be required for 70-80% of the day.
- Must possess motor skills appropriate to the task.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull 25-30 pounds consistently.
- U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 is required to meet export control compliance requirements, including U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Must be able to operate and monitor electron beam lithography systems and photolithography tools, including coating, developing, and inspecting wafers using optical microscopes and scanning electron microscopes.
- Must be able to fracture incoming pattern data into machine-specific formats, applying data and Proximity Error Corrections (PEC) as necessary.
- Must be able to write and perform experiments, record and analyze lithography results and statistical data, and collaborate with technical staff.
- Must be able to develop customized job files and develop novel processes requiring utmost accuracy and attention to detail for critical fabrication processes.
- Must be able to communicate and provide updates to customers regarding work submitted.
