Job Description

The Cryogenic Device Engineer conducts ultra-low temperature, low-noise electrical measurements of advanced semiconductor devices, including spin qubits, develops measurement systems, automates testing processes, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to advance quantum and semiconductor device physics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ultra-low temperature and low-noise electrical measurements of semiconductor spin qubit devices.
  • Collaborate with the measurement-system-engineering team to improve device-control, interconnect, and environmental subsystems.
  • Develop and automate measurement systems, test methodologies, and data acquisition processes through scripting and programming.
  • Analyze complex experimental data, document test procedures, and maintain organized data records.
  • Report experimental findings through technical presentations and written reports.
  • Develop and utilize novel measurement systems and test procedures while ensuring laboratory safety and efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Cryogenic Device Testing with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Detailed knowledge of cryogenic device testing and equipment
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor device physics
  • Proficiency in analog circuit design and familiarity with digital electrical circuits
  • Experience in scientific programming for data analysis (specific programming language is flexible)
  • Proven ability to develop and use automated data acquisition systems
  • Ability to conduct ultra-low temperature and low-noise electrical measurements of semiconductor spin qubit devices in collaboration with other device engineers
  • Ability to collaborate with the measurement-system-engineering team to identify and implement improvements to device-control, interconnect, and environmental subsystems
  • Ability to write script-level code to support experimental development, automate semiconductor data acquisition, and streamline hardware interfacing
  • Ability to analyze complex test results, document and standardize test methodologies, and maintain organized summaries of experimental data
  • Ability to report findings through frequent technical presentations and written reports to internal stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and utilize novel measurement systems and test procedures while maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment
  • Must be able to climb ladders to access elevated test equipment
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
