The role involves leading transaction management and funding activities for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure projects, acting as the commercial leader and main client contact during capital deployment, while managing a team to ensure efficient and proper project closings.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the team responsible for closing, funding, and transaction management of renewable energy investments.
Act as the main commercial contact with clients during the capital deployment phase of transactions.
Coordinate and facilitate efficient, timely, and proper project closings involving internal teams and external advisors.
Review and ensure transaction components are accurately reflected in financial models and project documents.
Identify and resolve discrepancies between financial models and project documentation.
Supervise and ensure thorough review of transaction models, including scenario analysis and custom modeling.
Maintain accurate records of reviewed materials and transaction progress.
Collaborate with project teams to address inconsistencies and challenges during funding processes.
Leverage expertise in structured finance, tax equity, and project finance to support investment transactions.
Negotiate amendments, waivers, and client requests confidently.
Coordinate multiple internal and external groups to drive efficient project closings.
Provide regular updates on project status and transaction progress to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
Possess a Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.
Have prior experience in finance in the renewable energy sector, ideally including tax equity partnerships, project finance, and structured debt or equity finance.
Have experience in modeling, ideally involving structured debt and equity investments, including working knowledge of tax equity partnership flip models for renewable energy assets.
Be proficient in reading and digesting transaction documents such as investment memos, LLCAs, loan agreements, DAPAs, tax equity and debt documents.
Be comfortable reading and interpreting project materials and contracts including technical reports, operating reports, financial models, power offtake agreements, incentive awards, operating and construction agreements.
Be a proficient negotiator capable of confidently processing amendments, waivers, and other client requests.
Be comfortable and competent with complex financial models, including the ability to analyze model scenarios and advise on custom analysis.
Be masterful in coordinating multiple internal and external groups and advisors to drive closings efficiently and timely.
Be a natural leader, collaborative, and skillful in managing a high-performing team.
Be well organized and process-oriented, supervising and being accountable for tasks such as ensuring all components of transaction underwriting are reflected in financial models, including IRR returns, cash waterfall, sponsor equity requirements, and aligning with project documents.
Identify and report discrepancies between project documents and financial models, collaborating with project teams to address inconsistencies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of reviewed materials and enforce deeper level model review to ensure model mechanics are functioning appropriately.
Analyze model scenarios and advise on custom analysis, participating in solving unique challenges during funding processes.
Provide regular updates to relevant teams on project status.
Possess very strong MS Excel financial modeling and data mining skills, with demonstrable experience developing and managing complex financial models.
Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Be able to work independently with limited oversight.
Exhibit excellent management and collaboration skills.
Have familiarity with energy project finance transactions and documentation.
Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, innovative, entrepreneurial environment.
