Job Description
The Senior Staff PLC Controls Engineer will lead automation and control systems for the battery production line at Gotion's Manteno facility, focusing on troubleshooting, optimizing equipment, and mentoring team members to improve manufacturing throughput and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead troubleshooting and optimization of PLC, HMI, motion control, and industrial networking systems on the production line
- Diagnose and develop corrective actions for automation issues affecting throughput, yield, and process stability
- Reprogram, tune, and standardize PLC logic using Siemens S7-1500 TIA Portal and Omron systems
- Maintain equipment documentation, parameter settings, software versions, and backup libraries
- Collaborate with Process, Quality, and Maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement
- Lead controls-related Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, and DOE activities
- Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to Controls Engineers and Technicians
- Support new equipment integration, commissioning, and upgrades
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 8 years of PLC Controls experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in assembly, automated production, or automotive battery industry preferred.
- Expert-level Siemens PLC programming experience using TIA Portal with S7-1500.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including Profinet, Ethernet IP, and Modbus.
- Strong troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic ability capable of solving system-level issues independently.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in a fast-paced production environment.
