Job Description

The Equipment Manager oversees all equipment-related activities in Gotion's battery manufacturing facility, including commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production equipment, while leading a team of engineers and ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment commissioning, calibration, validation, and performance verification for new production lines.
  • Manage installation, calibration, testing, and validation of key battery pack production equipment.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Establish and improve preventive and predictive maintenance systems to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Collaborate with global teams and vendors to support equipment integration and technical alignment.
  • Build and lead a team of equipment engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, including training and development.
  • Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including installation, upgrades, retrofits, and obsolescence planning.
  • Support manufacturing processes by ensuring equipment performance meets production quality and yield targets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma to enhance equipment efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • 3 years in equipment engineering or maintenance leadership role.
  • Experience managing a team of more than 50 equipment engineers, technicians, and maintenance supervisors.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing lines.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, servo systems, and industrial controls.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, preferably in battery or similar industries.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Ability to lead equipment commissioning, validation, calibration, and testing for new production lines.
  • Ability to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety compliance.
  • Experience establishing preventive and predictive maintenance systems, tracking KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and downtime trends.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience leading TPM and continuous improvement initiatives in a startup environment.
  • Ability to oversee installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment and future projects.
  • Experience managing equipment lifecycle, including upgrades, retrofits, obsolescence management, and long-term asset strategies.
  • Ability to support critical battery pack production processes and ensure equipment performance meets yield and quality targets.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and battery safety standards.
  • Experience enforcing lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Ability to participate in safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring safe handling of materials used in battery pack production.
  • Experience managing maintenance and spare parts budgets, overseeing critical spare parts inventory, and negotiating service contracts with OEMs and international suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills to build and lead a high-performing team, coordinate with global teams, and present technical updates to senior management.
  • Ability to develop training programs, build succession plans, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel internationally for equipment validation or supplier visits.
  • Physical ability to work in manufacturing floor environments including dry rooms and high-voltage areas, adhering to PPE and safety standards.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 plus bonus and benefits
