Job Description

The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the real-time operations of autonomous trucks, ensuring timely and safe deliveries by communicating with vehicle operators, monitoring routes, handling incidents, and maintaining operational compliance in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and dispatch autonomous vehicle operators and manage daily routes in real-time
  • Monitor the status of dispatched vehicles and deliveries, providing updates and prioritizing tasks
  • Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency communications, assessing situations and offering solutions
  • Communicate delivery statuses, delays, and changes to clients proactively
  • Escalate urgent issues and updates to supervisors and management clearly and promptly
  • Track vehicle locations, freight progress, and estimated arrival times using fleet management software
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
  • Log operational data, including schedules, delays, and incidents, and escalate critical issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of work requests, customer requests, and operational activities
  • Generate reports and summaries on operational metrics and events during shifts

Requirements

  • Proven, high-volume experience of at least 3 years as a dispatcher in the transportation, fleet, shipping, or logistics industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOT FMCSA regulations as they relate to Hours of Service and general compliance.
  • Highly proficient with modern communication and logistics tools, including order management systems, dispatching software, TMS Transportation Management System, and instant messaging platforms such as Slack and Zoom.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, the ability to effectively multitask, and sound judgment for critical thinking and rapid decision-making under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and calmly to drivers, Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs), and client personnel.
  • Experience with fast, accurate data entry and a background in running reports or performing basic operational analytics.
  • Must be able to work a full 12-hour shift, primarily on site at the Fort Worth, TX office near Alliance Airport, with flexibility for possible overnight schedules.
  • Physical and mental ability to operate effectively during 12-hour shifts in a high-stakes, rapid-response environment.
