Job Description
The role involves operating support vehicles as an onboard safety driver for autonomous trucks, assisting with on-road testing, ensuring safety, and maintaining situational awareness to facilitate the development and validation of autonomous freight transportation technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate support vehicle to assist with testing operations
- Manage road interactions to maintain a controlled testing environment
- Stay highly aware of surrounding conditions and adapt as needed
- Prioritize safety for all road users during testing
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the team following protocols
- Exercise strong situational awareness to identify and address potential challenges
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed
