Job Description
The role involves operating support vehicles as an onboard safety driver for autonomous trucks, ensuring safe testing and operation of autonomous freight delivery systems while maintaining high safety standards and effective communication within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate support vehicle to assist with testing operations
- Manage road interactions to maintain a controlled testing environment
- Maintain awareness of surrounding conditions and adapt as needed
- Prioritize safety for all road users during testing
- Communicate effectively with the team following established protocols
- Exercise situational awareness to identify and address potential challenges
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed
