The Autonomous Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating Gatik's class 3-7 trucks on designated routes to ensure timely deliveries, collect data to support autonomous technology development, and maintain safety and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate Class 3-7 delivery vehicles manually on assigned routes.
Collect route data to support the development of autonomous driving technology.
Ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining cargo integrity.
Assist with loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment.
Perform routine safety checks and vehicle maintenance tasks.
Update dispatch team on route and shift status.
Follow standard operating procedures and safety standards.
Requirements
Possesses a valid CDL with 3 years of driving experience or is a non-CDL candidate encouraged to apply
Maintains a clean driving record and successfully passes background and drug screenings
Comfortable operating box trucks 26-30 feet, with or without a refrigerated unit
Demonstrates initiative, proactivity, and a strong focus on detail and safety
Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively, while also thriving in independent work settings
Tech-savvy and adaptable to varied shift schedules, including evenings, weekdays, and weekends
Shift hours typically begin at 2:00 AM and run 8 to 12 hours, ending around 2:00-3:00 PM
Weekly hours expected to be 40-45 hours per week, with availability required across all 7 days
Ability to safely operate vehicles in manual modes, ensuring safety of other drivers, operators, the public, and the vehicle
Ability to manually drive assigned, consistent routes to gather route data for future autonomous operations
Ability to assist with safe, secure loading and unloading of customer goods using equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, dollies, lift gates, handbombing, etc.
Perform daily routine checks on trucks, including monitoring fluid levels, tire pressure, hose connections, etc., to ensure operation and safety
Update the dispatch team on shift and route status
Perform ad-hoc projects such as truck delivery to new locations, testing, and installing new equipment
Learn and adhere to company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with safe operations standards
