Job Description
A software engineer responsible for developing and maintaining scalable geospatial workflow management solutions using Java and Scala, collaborating within an agile team to deliver innovative features and ensure high-quality, secure, and efficient software products for diverse organizational clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Scala web services to support user experience and geospatial workflows
- Design and prototype technical solutions ensuring security, performance, scalability, fault-tolerance, and maintainability
- Contribute to team code reviews and write unit tests to maintain a high-quality codebase
- Implement additional functionalities in ArcGIS Workflow Manager using languages such as C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
- Participate in agile development activities including design reviews, planning, and retrospectives
- Support deployment activities for the SaaS version of ArcGIS Workflow Manager, including AWS deployment
Requirements
- Five (5) years of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities such as developing software components and supporting software development activities.
- Professional experience developing software components using Java or Scala.
- Strong understanding of modern best practices for REST web service design and development, including websockets.
- Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and best practices.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different technical skillsets and areas of expertise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a STEM-related field.
