Job Description

The Scrum Master will facilitate Agile practices within a scaled environment, coaching multiple teams to improve their performance, remove impediments, and ensure effective delivery of software products, particularly in geospatial technology development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Lead multiple teams to achieve project goals
  • Assess and coach teams to improve Agile maturity and performance
  • Remove impediments and resolve cross-team dependencies
  • Create a safe environment for problem-solving and open communication
  • Coach Product Owners and teams on Scrum roles and responsibilities
  • Support backlog refinement and maintenance
  • Develop and publish team performance metrics

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of relevant industry experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role involving Agile methodologies.
  • Relevant professional experience as a Scrum Master with a proven track record of developing highly performing Agile delivery teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Agile software development life cycle and implementation approaches.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or GIS.
  • Ability to facilitate regular Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ability to lead multiple teams with differing dynamics to accomplish project goals.
  • Skill in assessing Agile maturity of teams and coaching them to continually improve at a sustainable pace.
  • Ability to remove impediments teams may have by finding the right person or solution to remove blockers.
  • Skill in facilitating cross-team and organizational dependencies to ensure decision making and conflict resolution are timely.
  • Ability to build a safe environment where problems can be raised and tackled effectively.
  • Experience supporting Product Owners and Development teams on their roles and responsibilities within the Scrum framework.
  • Experience supporting teams in drafting and adhering to agreements for definition of ready, definition of done, and team norms.
  • Ability to create and publish metrics to track and review team performance, including burndown charts, velocity, and other sprint metrics.
