Job Description

This role involves developing and enhancing AI-powered observability solutions for enterprise ArcGIS systems, focusing on system monitoring, diagnostics, and automation through natural language interfaces, with a strong emphasis on software development, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and release high-quality observability software solutions for enterprise systems.
  • Create and manage test plans and datasets for software validation.
  • Translate industry standards and requirements into software design and user stories.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to develop user interfaces and workflows for AI-assisted system operations.
  • Evaluate and validate AI features supporting diagnostics, root cause analysis, and operational recommendations.
  • Define safe operational boundaries and human-in-the-loop workflows for AI automation.
  • Author and review user documentation, technical guides, and best practices.
  • Work with automation engineers to design UI automation processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities related to software development, testing, and system observability.
  • Professional experience working as a GIS or IT practitioner maintaining a GIS or IT environment.
  • Experience deploying and/or administering ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, or other comparable IT systems web application servers.
  • Familiarity with traditional RDBMS systems, preferably PostgreSQL, including common SQL commands and concepts.
  • Familiarity with general server administration on Windows or Linux operating systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science, or a STEM-related field.
  • Experience supporting the design, build, testing, and release of high-quality software, including authoring and executing test plans and managing testing datasets for acceptance, regression, and N-path testing.
  • Ability to research industry standards and specifications to translate requirements into software design.
  • Experience authoring Scrum user stories that define new feature capabilities to guide the software development process.
  • Ability to communicate with product users to identify product requirements and advocate for their needs throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience collaborating with UI/UX designers to create mockups of rich user experiences for new capabilities.
  • Ability to help define user workflows that integrate AI-assisted operations and natural language system interactions for observability and system management.
  • Experience evaluating and validating AI-assisted features that support root cause analysis, system diagnostics, performance troubleshooting, and operational recommendations.
  • Ability to design and test scenarios that simulate real-world enterprise ArcGIS deployments to validate system insights and recommendations.
  • Experience helping to define safe operational boundaries and human-in-the-loop workflows for AI-assisted system operations and automation.
  • Ability to author user guide documentation and provide technical review for accuracy, completeness, and usability.
  • Experience providing best practices, user documentation, demonstrations, and technical assistance for software products.
  • Ability to work with automation engineers to design UI automation.
  • Experience working with observability systems and performance monitoring concepts such as Prometheus, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Shell, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with the SCRUM process and its application to the software development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of large language models (LLMs) and their use in developer tools, operational platforms, or observability systems.
  • Experience with prompt engineering or designing workflows that leverage natural language interfaces.
  • Knowledge of LLM limitations, including hallucinations, context limitations, and reliability challenges.
  • Experience designing user experiences that safely incorporate AI-generated insights, including techniques such as verification, explainability, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Interest in building AI-assisted operational systems that help automate diagnostics, troubleshooting, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted observability or AIOps concepts.
  • Experience with software control systems such as GIT and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) concepts.
