Job Description
The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, is responsible for supporting external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and advising on technical accounting issues, including business combinations and financial disclosures. The role involves coordinating audits, researching new accounting pronouncements, and assisting with mergers and acquisitions activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support external financial and statutory audit activities and ensure timely completion
- Analyze complex accounting topics such as revenue recognition, leasing, credit losses, and business combinations
- Research and assist with the adoption of new accounting pronouncements and collaborate on training
- Assist with M&A integration activities, including technical accounting, tax implications, and financial reporting
- Coordinate across the accounting department to review, document, and develop financial disclosures related to new accounting standards
Requirements
- Five years of prior experience in public accounting or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to apply extensive know-how of technical accounting and financial reporting standards.
- Ability to research technical accounting matters and prepare well-written memorandums and presentations articulating these matters to both well-versed accountants and non-finance stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or in a related field with an Accounting Certificate or qualification that meets the California CPA eligibility requirements.
- Demonstrates a detail-oriented and hands-on style, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize demands to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking with the ability to analyze financial results.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team.
