Job Description

A Senior Lead Accountant responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulations, managing financial closing processes, preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and leading a team within the Corporate Accounting department at Esri's headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the month and year-end close process for domestic entities, ensuring accurate financial statements and compliance with GAAP and regulations
  • Perform monthly close functions including reviewing and posting general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions, reporting, and allocations
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with best practices
  • Support and implement complex accounting transactions and provide technical guidance
  • Collaborate with FP&A to communicate transactions impacting results and forecasts
  • Support operational areas affecting domestic accounting activities such as Accounts Payable and asset management
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of prior experience in public accounting or a similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial consolidation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze financial statements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex accounting issues to various levels of the organization.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUPS and pivot tables.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or in a related field with an Accounting Certificate or qualification that meets the California CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to support and implement complex accounting issues and transactions and provide technical guidance and recommendations.
  • Experience supporting the month and year-end close process for all domestic entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local GAAP, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience conducting monthly close functions such as reviewing and posting general ledger entries, reviewing monthly reconciliations, and supporting management reporting analysis.
  • Experience developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Experience interacting closely with FP&A and effectively communicating transactions that impact results and forecasts, including short-range outlooks, annual, and long-range plan development processes.
  • Experience supporting operational areas that impact domestic accounting activities such as Accounts Payable, Assets, and other transactional functions.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, providing feedback, coaching, and career development opportunities.
