A cartographic data visualization specialist responsible for creating engaging maps and interactive geographic experiences using ArcGIS, collaborating with cross-functional teams to tell compelling stories about the planet and advance map design principles.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to produce static, animated, and interactive maps for various platforms and campaigns
Contribute to mapmaking workflows and production systems to ensure high-quality cartography at an enterprise scale
Define foundational cartographic principles and develop technical documentation for map design standards
Storyboard, design, prototype, and build engaging interactive web experiences showcasing Esri software
Conduct usability studies with UX researchers to gather insights and measure success of interactive maps
Explore and develop innovative techniques to demonstrate the capabilities of ArcGIS and connect with new audiences
Mentor others, share knowledge, and promote the value of geographic thinking within the community
Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a field relevant to geographic thinking and cartographic production.
A portfolio submission that includes a link to an online portfolio or PDF samples of recent work demonstrating evidence-driven problem-solving on real-world projects, skills in developing evidence-based insights, and design solutions through a mix of low- and high-fidelity deliverables.
Foundational comprehension and demonstrated experience in geographic information system (GIS) technology.
Outstanding written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
A clear passion for geographic storytelling with the ability to make complex ideas understandable to non-cartography audiences.
Bachelor's degree in geography, cartography, computer science, data visualization, or related fields such as urban planning, architecture, or information design.
