Job Description
Supervise and coordinate shift operations in a wood bioenergy manufacturing facility, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met while managing employee training, equipment troubleshooting, and communication with third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and coach employees to meet safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency goals
- Coordinate ship loading, conduct shift meetings, and communicate with third-party vendors
- Manage shift schedules, including workstation assignments, employee training, vacations, breaks, overtime, and shift rotations
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues to improve reliability
- Prepare and submit operational reports
- Follow safety procedures and perform housekeeping audits
- Complete required safety certifications
- Escalate operational issues for resolution
- Communicate operational information to relevant stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years industrial manufacturing experience in wood products background.
- Must be proficient in basic computer knowledge.
- Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a team player; previous management experience is a plus.
- Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required.
- High school diploma or able to complete GED requirements within six months of hire.
- Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Proficient in mathematics and measurement.
- Verified troubleshooting skills and understanding of chain of command.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts to address unexpected site issues.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces up to 100 ft.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to complete safety certification as required for the position.
- Must be certified to operate mobile equipment.
- Responsible for supervising, training, and coaching employees to meet safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency objectives.
- Responsible for shift schedule management including workstation assignments, employee rotations, vacations, breaks, overtime, and backup for absent employees.
- Identify corrective actions and troubleshooting to improve equipment reliability.
- Prepare and submit reports as required.
- Troubleshoot basic control systems and be familiar with basic machinery functions.
- Follow all workplace and job safety procedures and perform housekeeping audits to applicable standards.
- Escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
- Communicate operational information including ship captain and third-party quality inspectors.
- Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working off elevated surfaces, and pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
