Job Description
The role involves leading and managing a software engineering department to develop scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions supporting energy efficiency and environmental initiatives, while aligning technical strategies with business goals in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and scale multiple engineering teams of approximately 35 developers.
- Manage resource allocation between client projects and internal platform development.
- Oversee software architecture and design to ensure scalability, modularity, and performance.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and small commits.
- Collaborate with data teams and downstream application owners to ensure high-quality, well-structured data and seamless integration.
- Guide the migration of legacy systems and adoption of new libraries or frameworks.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including code quality, testing, and documentation standards.
- Establish and enforce security, compliance, and data protection protocols across projects.
- Monitor delivery timelines, mitigate risks, and ensure client expectations and contractual obligations are met.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely, within-budget delivery of software solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years in software engineering experience, with at least 4 years in a Director or Senior Management role leading teams of 25 or more people.
- Deep roots in the Python ecosystem, with experience building complex applications using Django.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and cloud infrastructure platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Proven ability to influence partners while mentoring and maturing a software engineering team, including supervisors.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
- Experience managing remote or distributed engineering teams.
- Experience working in a Professional Services Consultancy environment is highly preferred.
- Experience shipping SaaS or PaaS products.
- Ability to oversee the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Ability to establish and enforce security controls, compliance standards, and data protection protocols across all client projects.
- Ability to establish and track engineering metrics to drive process improvements, increase velocity, and reduce technical debt.
- Experience collaborating with product owners, project managers, business systems analysts, and business partners to ensure client deliverables are shipped on time and within budget.
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations regarding technical feasibility, timelines, and scope.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Hands-on or theoretical knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) integration in enterprise software (preferred).
- Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, working onsite at least 1 day per week, with flexibility for the remainder of the week.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $145,000 to $170,000, with a target of $145,000 to $161,000 based on experience and qualifications
Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 1 day onsite per week, currently Wednesdays, with flexibility for other days
