Job Description
The Principal Engineer, Testing Analysis at e-Zinc is responsible for leading battery and system-level testing, analysis, and lab operations to support the development and commercialization of innovative zinc-air energy storage technology, ensuring quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the battery testing lab, including equipment, infrastructure, and safety protocols.
- Develop, implement, and improve testing methods and procedures for cell, pack, and system validation.
- Execute testing plans at various development stages and analyze data to extract insights.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, reporting, and standardization to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Lead problem-solving efforts to identify and resolve system and process issues, driving continuous improvement.
- Mentor and manage a team of test engineers, technicians, and interns, prioritizing workload and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to align testing activities with development and manufacturing goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline within Engineering or Science.
- At least 10 years of experience in battery or electro-mechanical system testing and data analysis, including cell, pack, and/or system-level validation.
- Proven experience in lab operations, test execution, and team leadership.
- Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and product validation processes.
- Strong hands-on experience with test equipment, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting tools such as Python and MATLAB.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis.
- Experience working in high-reliability testing environments such as automotive, medical, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of battery safety standards and testing best practices.
- Excellent communication skills.

Compensation/salary range: CAD 120,000 - 140,000 annually
Work schedule: Full-time
