Job Description
A senior reservoir engineer responsible for developing and analyzing reservoir models for CO2 storage projects, assessing risks, optimizing injection strategies, and supporting regulatory and technical decision-making in the CCS and CDR space.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine dynamic reservoir models for saline aquifer and CO2 mineralization applications.
- Use advanced simulation software to optimize CO2 injection schemes and forecast plume behavior.
- Analyze data to screen and select suitable CO2 injection sites and evaluate storage performance.
- Assess and quantify risks to long-term CO2 containment and develop monitoring and mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to regulatory applications related to CO2 storage projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations of reservoir modeling findings for regulatory and organizational purposes.
- Stay current with reservoir engineering practices and simulation tools to improve modeling approaches.
- Coordinate with geologists, geophysicists, drilling engineers, and MMV specialists to ensure successful project implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer designation P.Eng with a Canadian engineering association.
- 10 years of engineering experience with noteworthy experience in a reservoir engineering role.
- Significant experience with at least one reservoir modeling software.
- Experience with advanced modeling such as geomechanical, reactive-transport, etc., would be considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates experienced in injection operations and/or geological containment assurance such as CCS, disposal schemes, geothermal, SAGD, etc.
- An ability and willingness to learn new concepts and software tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
